Commercial Trials

The Greenfinch laboratory can offer anaerobic digestion trials which will give robust results on which commercial designs can be made.   The trial will establish if the process will remain stable with the introduction and long-term use of the given feedstock, ascertain the expected biogas yield of the feedstock and produce a representative digestate which can be tested for its nutrient composition.  

The CSTR, (either an 8 litre bench digester or a pilot scale 500 litre digester), is fed and discharged from daily (seven days per week), biogas production and quality is monitored on a daily basis, which over a given period of time can allow us to establish what the projected gas yield of a specific feedstock will be.   The digester, feedstock and digestate is monitored throughout the trial for dry matter and organic dry matter contents, pH, alkalinity, and volatile fatty acid concentrations.  

We like to deal with clients on a project by project basis so that the trial can be tailored to your exact requirements.   Trials will last for a minimum of 3 months, and depending on what the objectives are, could go on for an additional 3 months or longer.   We produce a final report at the end of the trial, but we are also happy to send interim results to the client during the trial period on request.
