Food Waste Research

Greenfinch research and development carried out over 7 years proved that the process of anaerobic digestion and biogas provides the safe, sustainable and environmentally benign solution to the recycling of food waste.

Our pioneering work has been driven by existing and pending Legislation , but above all it makes sense because the solution is so simple.

There have been 3 phases in our R&D programme :

The Burford Project - a pilot trial with restaurant waste & septic tank sludge.
The Ludlow Project - a demonstration project recycling source-separated kitchen waste from 1200 households.
The Sunrise Project - R&D in partnership with Southampton University to study the mass balance, energy balance and pathogen destruction by the mesophilic & thermophilic anaerobic digestion of food waste.
